Father, today's reading below is a gentle reminder that if I want to know something, then all I need to do is ask someone who has a connection. The Greeks are known for traveling and journeying to other areas of the world in order to learn more. So when the Greeks heard about Jesus, naturally they wanted to meet Him personally and learn from Him. The Greeks were certainly no dummies and figured the easiest way to get up close and personal with Jesus was to find an 'insider' and someone who was 'in the know'. They found a link to the Greek community through Philip, whose name was Greek and who was an apostle of Jesus. Philip probably even spoken Greek because he was the apostle who later preached in the Greek community. So Philip serves as the 'insider' or 'introducer' of the Greeks to Jesus. Even though Philip may have gotten a bit tongue-tied and may have not known how to make that introduction, he was still a huge part of the introduction of the Greeks to Jesus because Philip went to tell Andrew and then Andrew told Jesus. So the connection was still made through Philip, an insider. In a previous writing you said, "Ask, seek and knock and it will be given unto you" and that is exactly what the Greeks did, they sought, knocked and asked.
This whole reading below reminds me of how I am an 'insider' to You and how I can introduce others to You by way of making one connection to another. I can hook others up to You. It also reminds me of how much I don't know and how I should seek out others who are 'in the know' so I can learn even more about You. And what an interesting hour (time) for the Greeks to come when all the action was just getting ready to go down. Jesus' hour was near and things were just getting ready to get exciting. This tells me that it was no accident that the Greeks needed to be there. They were called to be there. Since Greeks are known for journeying to learn, they were also teachers and would no doubt journey back to Greece to teach others what they had learned. Greeks simply cannot keep knowledge to themselves; they need to seek and share. Their trip to Jerusalem was no coincidence and quite honestly, it looks like Divine Inspiration and Intervention to me. It was on purpose, meaning Your Purpose.
Thank You Father, for this wonderful awareness of how to be that connection for others to You and how to continually seek out other connections for myself back to You. I want to be in a circle or 'in the loop' where no matter what I do or who I connect to, it always leads back to You. Just one big ol' Divine Loop. This gives being 'In the Loop' a whole new meaning. I want to truly be plugged in to You and one of Your insiders.
Through Jesus Christ's Most Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face, I thank You for this awareness. Amen~
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John
John 12:20-33
20 Now among those who went up to worship at the feast were some Greeks.
21 So they came to Philip, who was from Beth-sa'ida in Galilee, and said to him, "Sir, we wish to see Jesus."
22 Philip went and told Andrew; Andrew went with Philip and they told Jesus.
23 And Jesus answered them, "The hour has come for the Son of man to be glorified.
24 Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.
25 He who Loves his Life loses it, and he who hates his Life in this world will keep it for eternal Life.
26 If any one serves me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there shall my servant be also; if any one serves Me, the Father will honor him."
27 Then a voice came from heaven, "I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again."
29 The crowd standing by heard it and said that it had thundered. Others said, "An angel has spoken to Him."
30 Jesus answered, "This Voice has come for your sake, not for mine.
31 Now is the judgment of this world, now shall the ruler of this world be cast out;
32 and I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself."
33 He said this to show by what death He was to die.
