How easy or tough is it for you to remove yourself from trivial matters or trivial chatter? Is your situational awareness strong enough to realize what is going on and how once you step in, you're in? Are you aware of yourself, your own self, and the world around you? Do you 'see' people? We see others walking embedded in their phone, not seeing the world around them, but are you like that too but won't admit it? Can you have a conversation with someone without checking your phone? Can you take a moment to be peaceful and go deep? Today's music video is awesome, but take care not to get so caught up in the video, that you miss the message. That would be like getting caught up in your phone. Today's prayer is intended to help you look deeper at you, not others and what they are doing.
How is my situational awareness? Why do I allow myself to get upset over trivial matters?
"Many of us believe that wrongs aren't wrong if it's done by nice people like ourselves."

I have clear situational awareness.
For a more enriching experience, go down on your knees to pray or take it one step further and prostrate yourself (lay face down) on the floor while praying.
Father, today's reading reminds me of how trivial I can be when there are larger and more important things at hand. The people were challenging the man for carrying his mat when they knew he had been sick for 38 years. Instead of being amazed that this man could walk at all, they locked on to the pettiness of him carrying his mat, which should have been the last thing they noticed.
Father, this serves to remind me that there are times when I too can be extremely petty and spiteful . . and for what? I have no idea why I choose to go down that path, but there are times when I fall right into that well, and now that I have this awareness so bold in my face. From this day forward, I will make certain that I correct myself quickly and humbly taking ownership of my actions and reactions. Thank You for this gentle reminder of my own situational awareness.
Through Jesus Christ's Most Precious Blood, Most Sacred Name and Most Holy Face, I thank You for this awareness. Amen~
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John
John 5:1-16
1 After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2 Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, in Hebrew called Beth-za'tha, which has five porticoes.
3 In these lay a multitude of invalids, blind, lame, paralyzed.
4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
5 One man was there, who had been ill for thirty-eight years.
6 When Jesus saw him and knew that he had been lying there a long time, He said to him, "Do you want to be healed?"
7 The sick man answered Him, "Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is troubled, and while I am going another steps down before me."
8 Jesus said to him, "Rise, take up your pallet, and walk."
9 And at once the man was healed, and he took up his pallet and walked. Now that day was the sabbath.
10 So the Jews said to the man who was cured, "It is the sabbath, it is not lawful for you to carry your pallet."
11 But he answered them, "The man who healed me said to me, `Take up your pallet, and walk.'"
12 They asked him, "Who is the man who said to you, `Take up your pallet, and walk'?"
13 Now the man who had been healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, as there was a crowd in the place.
14 Afterward, Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, "See, you are well! Sin no more, that nothing worse befall you."
15 The man went away and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had healed him.
16 And this was why the Jews persecuted Jesus, because He did this on the sabbath.
