NETTLE ROOT
(Urtica dioica)

NETTLE ROOT (Urtica dioica)

Nettle

DESCRIPTION: Nettle root is an old European herb that has been around forever. The motto of this herb is, "The sting of the Nettle root is nothing compared to the pains that it heals." It was even used during World War II to make green dye for camouflage paint because of the rich properties of chlorophyll. It's a fairly powerful herb when it's on the job. It's action is dependent on it neutralizing uric acid, which assists in relieving rheumatism. Because it is rich in iron it helps with circulation and with hypertension. There is tannin in the root and this helps in the healing and shrinkage of hemorrhoids. Again because of the cirulatory benefits, it assists with menstrual flow. Has also been known to assist with prostate difficulties.

POTENTIAL BENEFITS: Nutritional support to modulate the balance of fluids in the prostate, bleeding disorders, blood purifier, bronchitis, catarrhal conditions, diarrhea, dysentery, high blood pressure and rheumatism. It is rich in Vitamins A, C, E, D, F and P with a high protein content along with sulphur, sodium, copper, calcium, manganese, chromium and zinc.

POTENTIAL SIDE EFFECTS: Uncooked plant is poisonous and can produce kidney damage.

PARTS USED: Root

GENERAL USAGE: Used in bleeding disorders, bronchitis, catarrhal conditions, gastrointestinal complaints, high blood pressure, menstruation, rheumatism, skin ailments and nose bleeds.
